My dad had a device he pulled behind his tractor He called it a cyclone. It was about 8 ft wide and had a series of stationary blades that would dig into the ground as it was pulled. The blades only went deep enough to cut weeds in soft ground. I have only seen one like it on craigs list. Must have not been very popular. Anyone still have one of these things? Stan

Is this what you are talking about?

I have used it to chop corn stalks... the blade "rides up" on the ground, next blade in line chops up the stalks when it "drops down"...makes for one ''ll of a ride though.

I think there are 5-6 stationary blades on this one. For transporting, you pull a lever and the implement rides up on 2 "skis".

I believe it was made by IH, but not sure...I now just disc the corn stalks.

If you wanted to take the time. Go to craigs list San Diego, farm garden type in weed rake. This is what the person calls it, but it is not a rake. Stan

Hey Stan..........if it's the picture Bob posted, it actually (probably) is a type of rake. Although the dimensions are different, it's quite similar to an old sweep rake. There's one sitting somewhere out in the weeds that I made almost 40 years ago that mounted on a fel and was used to move pruned brush out of the orchard........back when we had an orchard.
