Well next month the U.S. Navy will be sending my son to Africa. Guess we had a peace keep force in the area of Kenya. He will be there about 8 months then gets to come back to the states around Aug again.
Just an up date on how this navy guy is doing

Glad to hear your son is doing well. Just was in Norfork over thanksgiving to see my navy son. His ship is still in dry dock.

In some ways dry dock is one of the best places to be. At least that way he is pretty safe as long as no know throws him a quarter off the side of the ship to buy soda. Guess how I know about that and how bad it hurts your hand to catch one LOL

My 2nd-youngest son had been stationed in south Korea on a nuclear sub, but he's finally all done. He was told not to wear his uniform anywhere when off-duty on shore-leave since many sailors were targetted and beat half-to death.

I didn't even know we had any NAVY in Kenya, but there's lots of things I'm not privy too.

I'll answer that one..... if they weren't using that ship to protect your Butt... they'd be using it to ship you a tractor.

Old Tell your son I said thanks !!

For those that don't know you, I'd guess you wore out a couple keyboards just posting on YT.

Thanks to him and all who serve to protect us and our freedom AND IM PROUD TO SAY THAT REGARDLESS IF THE POST IS TRACTOR RELATED OR NOT. Without him and others like him, we wouldnt be able to be here helping others with tractor problems........

you must be a very proud father to have a son in uniform protecting the rest of us while we set around and talk tractor stuff.good luck to you and your son old.glad everything is going good for you and your family.

Hey old: Somebody reported you as being a "troll" because you informed us about your son (one of america's FINEST)going to Africa. Do me a favor and tell your son THANKS for his service to this great nation! Mike

Great job there!! It took me too long to verify who that was, but you are correct.

See its gone now , But I have his number.

When my son came home from boot ,wearing uniform was ok . He said everyone was shaking his hand . After he was deployed they changed their policy and were told not to wear them as to avoid being targeted . Makes sense I guess . He sent me a link to story about kid walking through airport in dress blues . Just so happens one of sons DI 's and two other DI's had arrived at airprt off from leave . They seen this kid and right away noticed things were not quite right with his uniform ,,and he was wearing Skechers /shoes. They proceeded to quiz him and rip into him . Turns out he picked up uniform at surplus store and was out getting "atta boys " and freebies .

To all who serve and also to those who have served. I stand and say thank you. To those who think that a proud parent is not welcome to post a note here. Come on really? This is what upsets you enough to reply with such venom. If my son or daughter ever has to be put into harms way. You be damn sure I would tell everyone how proud I am of my child via a tractor forum, or a megaphone on the roof top.

Again to those in uniform..
Thank You

Ya me a troll that is a laugh in its self. I'm last I looked the top poster on this site and have been here for a decade plus now. Oh well some do not know much do they LOL

Went to Mombosa Kenya in '86. Wasn't the best liberty port, but should be safe enough. On a ship or shore duty?

Best to you and yours.

LOL last I looked I had posted over 30,000 times on this site. 90% are to do my best to help others the other 10% is to get answers and posts like this one. His dad died from cancer from agent orange and he was 4 at the time. So all he ever knew as a father is me and he went into the same branch as I was in. U.S.Navy 1974-1980 proud to have served my country and now proud to have a son who is serving now

He is a Sea Bee so they end up in a lot of places the normal Navy is not. He will have a rifle and hand gun on him most of the time he is there and will get hazardous duty pay seems there is a lot of shooting going on in that area

You say his ship is in dry dock is it in Portsmouth navel ship yard?? If so I know the place well since I was on the JFK CVA67 in that same ship yard back in the late 70s

Hes a Sae-bee so shore duty and he will be packing from what I understand most of the time. Sort of hope he will not have to test his sharp shooters metal when he is there. Yep he has sharp shooter both rifle and pistol

Being a top poster doesnt mean youre smarter than anyone else. The person who reported the post was refering to the responces to that post!!! Tell your son thanks for his service, and to keep his head down.

I looked at and then sent an answer to his post as for troll the way I read it he is/was reporting my post of yesterday. No I'm not smarter it just means I try to help a lot which I always do my best to try to do. I.E. help when I can

We really like Sea-Bee's in this part of the world. Dad was in that outfit on a little island in the pacific, Guadalcanal.
Our very best to your son!!!!!!

Hope he's a good dancer.them Marines don't like it when their dance partners keep stepping on their feet

Just kidding....... Hope he takes advantage of the situation and gets to see some of the world other than Missouri and the boat. Tell him thanks and be careful.

Dave

Whoops! I misunderstood what Roger-Kansas was saying, he was not speaking of you, but I had to go and type in wrong info. (MY BAD) My apologies to old and everyone. Mike
