John Deere Sickle Bar Mower Identification (Pict's)

I purchased this John Deere Sickle bar mower at auction for $25 a few weeks ago and I finally was able to go and pick it up today. I shouldn"t take much to get this thing back in use.
I was wondering if any one could tell me what model number it is. I cannot find any of the original decals anywhere.

Thanks for the info!

That is indeed a JD No 5 sickle mower. It is the older of two basic versions. Can be ID'ed by the kick stand (versus later jack stand) and the older style PTO shaft.
When set up properly, they will do a great job.
Basic wear parts such as new knives and pitman sticks are readily available.
Yours has the clamps that fit the round bar attachments. If these were not with it, I have two originals that you can purchase if interested.
Email me if interested.

Wow, you are one lucky guy. You will have a "complete set" of old John Deere stuff from the 30s, 40s, and 50s. I have a no. 5 also and according to the Parts Catalog, they were made from 1934 to 1957. A very good and popular mower in their day. With proper maintenance they are still a good mower.

It is a JD #5, I have 3 of them for parts. Plus a JD #8 that is for sale that could be fixed up and used.
Took the gear case cover off, sand blasted it, painted it and it is hanging on my wall for wall art. Gear case covers are selling on ebay for $50.00 so you got a bargin.
