OT.. car seat in toyota

Hi
My daughter and son in law are having a baby in May. One of there cars is a 98 Toyota Tercel and was wondering if you can put a car seat in the back? It has no place for the new upper straps, car runs great and they really dont want to have to trade it for something different. Is there a safe legal way to mount a car seat?

For the first couple years the baby will be lying facing back and i don't think the third mount is used.

You might get a mirror or baby cam made ex specially for watching babies in back seats.

Only select cars had the latch system in 1998. I cannot recall if the Tercel was one of them. Traditional seat belts can still be used although the latch system is much preferred. I used both.
