22-250 rifle

I use Winchester Supreme Ballistic silvertips.

The correct answer is go and buy several different brands of the bullet you want to shoot, ie varmint, hunting, long distance etc., and see which one groups the best. Your gun will choose the best brand.

When I can do it my .223 will rag one hole about the size of a dime at 100 yards.

Ive got a savage22-.250 with a bull barrel. Dean is correct on you should buy a few different types and see what works best. I sshoot winchester 40 grain varmit rounds or hornady out of mine till i get my reloads dialed in.

Load your own. The slow twist of the .22-250 favors lighter bullets, 60 grains or less. 55 grain bullets from Sierra, Nosler or Speer will all give good results. Some 22 caliber bullets will not hold up to 22-250 velocities. (Sierra denotes such bullets as "medium velocity".) I use Winchester brass and IMR-4064 powder, but there are plenty of other powders that I'm sure work well. Premium brass is available from Nosler, if you're not satisfied with Remington or Winchester. Neck-size your brass and accuracy will pick up after the first loading.

I reload and for that gun I would only load up Hornady VMax in what ever grain bullet that your gun likes.

I would put at least 50 rounds thru it before I expected to test for accuracy with any load..

Once fired in your chamber (Fire-Formed), no further case sizing should be needed, only neck-sizing and trim case length to fit YOUR individual chamber dimension..

Ron.
