Minneapolis Molines Pics

I know I am in the minority here, but I like Minneapolis Moline Tractors. My Dad had quite a few and I always chose the MM U. It may of been my inferioity complex, as this was the largest.

It had alot of power, was easy to start, fairly quiet and was fun to drive. My Father liked his MM R the best

Sorry, no pictures here. Even tho I farmed with AC tractors I also had a little MM R that I got out occasionally to rake hay or any other light work with.It was given to me by a friends wife who had passed away as a remembernce of him.He on the other hand was a staunch MM guy and had quite a line up of MM Tractors to do his farming with.

My dad spoke of his dad having one. Must been before the 30's and they lost everything. Looked like they were tough tractors. Maybe their dealship program was lacking.

I grew up on a 1952 MM ZA, I hope someday to have one to restore. My Dad"s original one was salvaged after my oldest brother passed away so getting it will not happen. Nice collection I like them Molines and JDs. Right now I just have garden tractors, 1974 JG 110, 1968 JD 112, and 1965 Case 180. They are plenty for my little place in town.

i like the m/m's, had a jetstar3 around here and used the heck out of it untill the kid broke the pto off inside the rear housing,he set the brush hog down on a apple tree stump when he wasnt paying attention , i still used it for drawbar work, but sold it to a guy who offered me some good money for it dont know where it went but he sure wanted that tractor

Thanks for the photos, I'm a fan of Minneapolis Moline too.

I have always claimed that I remember riding home on our newly purchased MM GTB, but it was a 1949 model though may have been bought a year or two after production, and I was born in 1947.

The G had a gasoline engine. Next came a G-705, an M-5, and then a GVI, all LPG units.

Last I knew the old GTB was setting at the edge of a field with the field rented out. The owner died decades ago and I have no idea what became of the tractor. I'll probably ask the tenant if he remembers what became of it the next time I see him which should be in May.

None of the tractors had 3 pt. Wheat country and dad didn't care for row crops due to the 19 inch annual rainfall.

Wonderful pictures. We filled silo, pulled a bailer, and plowed with a MM-U and I loved that tractor. Still do. We also used an Alis WC and it was a great tractor too. Picked a lot of corn with it. Those were the greatest days of all. Gone forever, sad to say.

Dosent matter to me what color, old tractors of any kind need to be preserved. Nice looking tractors you have there. There arent to many MMs around here. Anybody have any old Oliver picks to post? I think my father in law said the first tractor his dad bought was a Oliver 70, or 77. I cant remember which. It replaced the horses.

Years ago we had a MM similar to the one in your first picture. One difference I can see is ours had at least two sets of worn out u-joints in the steering shaft. Made for lots of slack, and if the front wheels caught on a plow furrow you had to just let 'er go and clutch it. It also had both a hand clutch and a foot clutch. Hand clutch allowed live PTO if I remember right. It was a very reliable tractor - started by just momentarily punching the starter button even in zero weather - had a nice throaty roar - I liked running it.

Good memories - except for the steering.

Thanks for the pix.

Hello,
here is another MM.
Pulls a slead, and is a propane unit.
It usually kiks A$$ at the track.
Tires are now a bit different, same engine.

Barrel Rolling with my "Z" Moline

Front tractor is my fathers GB, second is my G VI, third is my sisters G VI on plow day several years ago.

Next picture is the line up we were farming with in the 80's. Have all of these tractors except the G 1355 Deisel.

I grew up with farmlls, but developed an interest in MMs around 1980. Many have followed me home. Don't have anything rare in my mind, but I have fun with them and never wish I had another color. Some are "parade ready" but most are original paint or rusty and many need work.

Thanks to all for the wonderful pictures ! I like
the G707 the best. Minneapolis-Moline were first
and foremost with big powerful tractors. M M
meant "Modern Machinery" When I was a kid, only
a few Big, Rich, farmers had Minneapolis-Moline.
