recovering tractor seat

Hi all, I'm making progress on my massey 135. I need to recover the seat and need the clinch molding to hold the vinyl to the metal seat pan. It was all missing when I bought it. I have searched the net for hours and cant find a supplier. Does anyone know where to get it or an way to make my own? As of now, I'm considering plastic pipe and splitting it down one side and slipping it over the edge to hold it. But I'm not sure if it will have enough grip to hold it in place.
Thanks for all the great advice and God Bless

Charlie

I don't know if they'd have what you're looking for but you might try Metro Old Car World near Minneapolis.
They make and sell just about any kind of mouldings for old cars that you can imagine.

Not sure if it's the same stuff, but Riding mower seat covers are held on with a plastic strip similar to what you need. Try a lawnmower dealer.

I took my seat to an upholstery shop and they did a fine job. They did it while I waited and it still looks pretty good. This was about 25 years ago. Hal

My 65 had the entire seat bottom rusted out. The previous owners had shoved foam rubber in an old innertube and wired it shut. They put this where the seatbottom should have been on the tranny and sat on it! It worked. I bought the combo pack from this site and repainted the pan. If your pan is in good shape, then the cushions could be had for 60 bucks. Mom's 135 has the same seat, but I am not sure if they were used all the way til the end of production.

I've sent several Farmall 340 seats to Speer Cushion and had them rebuilt to beautiful original looking quality. since I first started sending them they have started advertising replacement seats, too. But I'm a stickler for originality so I send mine and have them rebuilt. They advertise in Antique Power and Red Power, etc. www.speercushion.com

You need 'flexible interior/exterior trim.' It comes in different colors and can be had at a auto body parts place, or even J.C. Whitney. Fairchild Industries makes it. If you 'Google flexible interior/exterior trim' you'll see a picture of it. It comes in rolls which does help the price some.

mom calls it "bang on "

this summer will she will have been reupholstering stuff full time for only 25 years, i'dd rather just keep on selling parts
