Went to Home Depot this morning to buy a new electric garage door opener. When I went to check out, the lady on the register asked if I'd been in the service.

I told her, "Yep, Marine Corps".

She told me I'd get a military discount, and took 10% off the price of the opener. She also told me whenever I buy anything there to make sure I ask for the military discount, that they're giving it to all current military and veterans.

Guess I'll have to go there more often, instead of to Menards. I wound up there this morning because they had the opener I wanted and Menards didn't.
 

I don't know all the details, but one of the owners runs a treatment/rehabilitation facility for head injuries. Military insurance(??) won't cover that type of treatment, so this guy is taking on soldiers and vets on his dime. Keep shopping there and keep his dimes rolling in.

I have gotten the discount at HD. I had to show my DD 214. I blacked out the SS number on it but they were ok with that. It is my understanding that Lowe's no longer offers this.
 
I was recently out in Virginia.
Just about every place I went to had a 10%discount for military or veterans.
Makes me wonder why I'm livin where I do, Illinois, the hub of crooked politicians.
 
Same with Lowe's. 10% discount, even on already discounted items. But, you have to ask for it. They don't have any signs up stating it. Also require some sort of proof. DD214, ID card.
