string filters-still available?

Are the old string filters still available? Th is military tractor I'm working on has one for the torque converter. The torque converter uses diesel fuel in this rig. The filter housing and bowl are cup shaped for the filter ends to nestle into so a modern flat ended filter won't work.

I've washed this filter and it looks clean but it'd be nice to put a new one back in. The book does not mention washing but recommends replacement instead. Jim

Case uses a wound cotton filter on 580CK models as an older option . they come two to a bag . Take your sample and see if it matches up close enough...Baldwin Filters may have them too , they have an online catalogue.

My Case 830 diesel used string filters for the 1st and 2nd fuel, there both different size. But they have to be genuine Case, napa used cartridge for that application. Maybe they would match up.
