Friend of mine has a YM 240D Yanmar in need of a complete engine. JD dude told her the engine from an 850 JD won't fit and she is wondering if there is a site for Yanmar gear or if anyone knows of a Yanmar guru in Ontario, thanks in advance. Hers hasn't run in 5 years, but she wants to use it again.
 
The Yanmar web site lists various engines and specs.
In all honesty finding parts and paying somebody to do the work.And having an old tractor when done. Is going to cost as much as trading the old clunk for a new(er) working tractor.
Call your local JD dealer and at least have a saleman drop in. It isn't going to cost anything to get some numbers.

Have you set up you cost free JD saleman's visit so you can get one of those new JD tractor's you keep trying to talk people into buying????????
 
I'm on commision for both that and the 1-800-522-7448 number.
Before sinking time and money into a repair job, there should be a budget limit. She should at least know what a trade would cost so value can be considered.
I've seen too many repair jobs end up costing the price of new.
 
Yanmar no longer makes a 2 cylinder engine in the 24HP range.
The YM 240D is a 4WD, built from 77 to 81 with a last known price of $6000 US. Engine HP 24 and 20 on the pto.
Is this tractor just a grass cutter or has other uses?

IF you really did receive a commission from Mother Deere for the times you tried to persuade posters into SAVING money by buying an NEW JD instead of buying/repairing you could RETIRE!!!!!!!!!! He-He

Yes I'll agree that repairs can get high not only on JD's but everything.
