I"ve been considering putting a gps tracking device on my big horse trailer and wanted to know if anyone has any experience with gps vehicle tracking devices.

Nancy,

I have a friend in Lewisville,Tx. he owns a rental company, he has the GPS on his Bobcats, a few months ago one got stolen he located it by the GPS signal in Irving,Tx.. he called the police but they wouldn't do anything, so he went and got it himself worked for him..

If you wish to call him e-mail me and I'll give you the number to his company.

since my trailer was stole somebody on here mentioned useing a gps system that a vet implants into an animal. said to put it into a "box" or container of caulk and fasten it under your trailer. do not know any details but before i get another trailer i am going to check into it.

A friend has a DeWalt unit on a trailer, (he had one stolen) He has me listed as the second call, since he is gone a lot. Last summer, it started going off almost every night, around midnight.. After a few trip of grabbing a gun, and rushing over to his shop, to find nothing wrong, got tiring in a hurry. I think it was something about getting cooler at night, that made the trailer vibrate and set it off. I told him to take my name off the call list.

What vets implant into animals is a micro chip with owner info (name, address, contact info). It can help identify the trailer as yours, but it doesn't send a locating signal.
