How long will a 5lb cyl run a 720lp??

I have an old LP powered forklift that has a 6 cyl. engine and a 30 gal. tank that we use around the yard. Even though it has a gauge it always seems to run out in the middle of a job or half way back on some journey. That said we have a hose made to run it on a small bottle. It does run OK and I've used it as much as a couple hours on the bottle from the grill. So the answer is, a while.

During Nebraska testing the 720 LP burned almost 1.9 gallons per hour at idle. Over 6 per hour at full load.

I'm with Russ. You may need a 20 lb tank. And a 20
lb won't do much more than putt. Even in the
summertime the tank will ice up after about 10
minutes.

With the OBD protection in a modern tank, you won't be able to get enough volume out of it to start the engine. The tank shuts off because it thinks there's a leak.

Keep the 20 lb tank upside dowm. that will put liquid on the bottom and it will feed it to the vaperizor. the vaporior will convert it to gas and run the thing just fine. as for how long it will run. my old truck that i used to have would run 1 hr at 60 mph. on a 20lb (4.5 gal tank ) good luck. Bob

It runs the unit just fine. I built a hose that connects the 5lb tank to the fill side of the large tank. I was just curious as to how long it would actually run on that setup.

I don't remember how long it last but I putt around a good bit with mine, disc a deer plot, light stuff like that. Paul
