GATOR 6X4 won't start

My JD Gator 6x4 with the Kawasaki v-twin will not start. We drove it out to the machine shed 2 yesterday and all was fine then when we went to get it to put it away for the night it will crank over and fire 1 time and then just cranks. It is getting fuel ( opened bowl drain ) and has spark to the plugs but will not start. Anyone have any idea what I should look for?

Pull the spark plugs and check them. These are bad about fouling plugs. I would replace them anyway. I have been having problems with bad plug causing weird problems lately. Use NGK plugs they work much better in the Kawasaki engines, that is OEM for this motor.

How old is it? I had that poblem, timing gear (plastic) was shot.

Gaters - couldn't live without it. Kawi engine not the worst but lots of problems - esp overheating. G

When mine blew the motor , 3 different JD dealer's told me not to make them sell me any parts or even a complete motor for it . All 3 said go get a Honda , it is cheaper and way better . So far we love the Honda .

GX 670 V twin . Bought it from Small Engine warehouse in In . If I remember right just under 1700 shipped to me . The Kawasaki from Deere was over 2300 just for a short block .

I put a short block in one of the old AMT 626. $1100 8 years ago. Still runs sort of. Wish I had put the Honda in.
I might just put a Honda in this gator if the Kawi goes again. I've replaced just about everything else on it except plastic fenders. Handy buggy, just too expensive for parts.

Well folks thanks for the tips I was looking into it tonight and I think I may have found the problem. we store this gator in the grainery and some mice have chewed some wires under the floor so tomorrow I will repair those and see what happens. we have had some wires chewed before that caused other problems so I stsrted looking there first.I will post tomorrow if that works.

Well it is worse than I thought fixed the wiring today and still the same thing. Start testing ignition parts all check out ok pulled plugs again both are wet and have good spark that leaves 2 possibilities timing or compression. Found front cylinder has none, pulled valve cover and rocker arms are not moving. now I need to make a puller for the clutch to get inside and see what is broke.
