I feel your/her pain.
My wife has kidney stones too,I got a day like that every other year.
One time i had to drive 500 km to a hospital to have one dug out,'t was stuck in the tube from the kidney to the bladder.
We was gone 3 days.

Neither is the funeral home, but I spent the evening there AGAIN. Family friend who had alzheimer's for several years. My wife took care of her at home until she had to be put in a home. Mercifully, she passed away Saturday morning.
Third time at the funeral home in the past two weeks.

Mark, hope she's feeling better. I've had a few stones and they're unbearable. Here are some current tips from urologists for anyone having trouble with stones:

Drink LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of water every day for the rest of your life. Keep your urine as clear as possible.

If you drink coffee or tea or iced tea or sodas, give them up. Green tea is your worst enemy. Drink water and fruit juices.

Avoid rhubarb.

Avoid chocolate.

I used to drink lots of iced tea and sodas, plus I'm a chocoholic and I grow rhubarb and love rhubarb pie. It's a toxic blend for kidneys. I'm a water drinker now, but will eat chocolate and rhubarb in moderation.

Another thing that seems to work is to take 3-4 "Stone Free" tablets every day. The product is a bottle of tablets from the local herb shop and readily available on the internet.

I've been free of stones for 6-7 years now and can empathize with those suffering, and I'm happy to share any info if it might help somebody.

My mother, who passed away last year at 86, had a LARGE stone in one of her kidneys that was discovered late in her life. The docs didn't want to mess with it, but I really feel that it contributed to many of her health problems for years.

Mark, I'm very sorry to here that. One kidney not working? Better take real good care of the other.

I only had stones or a stone once, and that was a couple of years ago, and thankfully only lasted a few days. So as not to be censored, started out ouchy and potty was kind of pinkish, and got progressively worse. By the time I passed it a few days later, everytime that I pottied like that day, fire engine red like was passing pure blood. Those last few days were very painful. Very painful. I never saw the stone, all of a sudden, potty was normal, and felt like a blissful, "Awwwwwwwwe, that feels so good I could stand here and do this all day, and if there was snow I could write a whole novel and then sign my name". May not have been a stone. Felt like a small piece of glass for about a week, ouch, ouch, ouch, YOUCH.

Good luck. And help her take care of that one good kidney.

Stones are no fun, never had one myself. But my neighbor is going thru it for the umpteenth time. The stent after lithotripsy is no fun either. Hope it goes good for you both.

kidney stones SUCK I know exactly how she feels. When i had my 2 3mm stones the doctor said this is the closest thing you will ever experience to child birth. NASTY looking things very jagged

Kidney stones....holy batman crap....I had one of those a couple of years ago.....I have some people that I really do not like, but I wouldnt wish that on my worst enemy.......The dang stint that I had after they RETRIEVED the stone, Yes went in and got it.....was worse than the stone....HORRIBLE!!!!
