I think they steel stuff just to be doing it........ Place about a mile outside town with 2 horses, about 15 stock panels, the frontloader for my tractor along with the rear weight and manure fork, car battery and electric fence charger, water tank/trailer, and a poop container for the 3 PH.
Went to back up to the container today and the lower link bolts were gone and the piece for the top link. Everything else was untouched. Guess I have to quit being so trusting......

Done now..........

People just don't steal stuff here. My car door locks lock and unlock randomly, I have fence chargers scattered on pastures around town, tractor or quad sets outside town at a stall unattended (have some alert neighbors with goats, geese, and a dog at that place though. Hoping this was a one time thing. Cost me 20 bucks to replace the stuff. I'll just replace the pinned bolts with threaded and tack them with a welder.
Disappointing though.

There was a classic story going around a number of years ago about a man from Nebraska who went deer hunting in Wyoming.

He shot a deer, and leaned his rifle on the deer while he went back to his pickup to get some rope to tie onto the deer to make it easier to drag to where he could get it with his pickup.

When he got back to the deer, his rifle was gone. Thinking maybe he'd carried the rifle back to his pickup and left it there, he went back to his pickup, but no rifle. He then went back to where the deer was, and the deer was gone.

At that point, he decided to say, "He11 with it", and depart the area. He went back to where he'd left his pickup, and the pickup was gone.

I would assume it was not one of his better days.

I use to set up a Decoy, and set back waiting for some one to come along an steal the item, then, put the cuffs on 'em,

Now you need to use that "Picture" you send me of your eye balls look'en at the inside of you, and see if your getting any smarter !!!!

My first reaction in that situation would be: " where the helll did I put that shiit!!!"
 
Had something like that happen last year.... except they traded a 5 gallon plastic jug of gas for 2 cats. So now we're 5 gallons short of gas with now 6 cats runnin around.
 
Just to confuse others, and avoid theft at my home I do several things. I never make my house look the same, especially at night. I will sometimes have all the lights on the exterior of the house, and sometimes none, or just one. I park in my drive, in the garage or even behind my house. Set up timers to the lights in the house,...really throws them off. Turn on a radio really loud. Man things to do.

I have been thinking about getting one of those field cameras for hunting just to see what happens around my property.
 
Went fishing out by Chelsea and when we got back they had stolen the tires, winch and hold downs off my boat trailer. Why not take the whole trailer?
 
Maybe that was as far as they had gotten when the neighbors dog or geese or something else spooked them and they left. You may have lost a lot more if they had had more time? Lots of luck.
