we have a rare 9n tractor with aluminum hood. its number is 693. does anyone know how much it is worth to sell. thank you.

I'd post over on the Ford N board- I'm not aware of the significance of the aluminum hood, but those guys will know. N's are sort of the Rodney Dangerfields of this board- "I tell ya, I don't get no respect."

That would be one of the few made in the first half year of production befor the tooling was ready to make the steel hoods and the hood alone even cracked is worth several thousand dollars and that tractor should only ever become a trailer qween and never used as that can be considered a prototype with several changes made in second half of the year. Rarrer than the hicrop and orchards and so on, The only Fords with less production would possibly and I am not sure about woulf be the ofset 5XX series or the offset 2000. If it still has the flat hubs and the 32" wheels then it could be in the $10,000 range.

As others here have said, you have a true collector's item, Based on what I know of the recent selling prices of unrestored Ford 9N aluminum hood tractors, the tractor is likely worth somewhere between $6,000 and $9,000. I consider myself somewhat of an expert here (on prices, that is) since I have been following these tractors for several years, have bid on a few, and I recently bought 9N614 with aluminum hood. Prices have been in the range that I described.

The exact value of the tractor will depend on how much original 1939 equipment is still on it and the general shape that it is in.

Janet,

Just curious, what part of the country you are from? Seems like most early 9N's I've are east of the Mississippi.

I've heard that the first 800 or so had the aluminum hood, side panels, battery cover, and grill, but I don't think anyone really knows for sure the exact number. I guess value depends on finding the right person and the condition of the tractor (especially the hood), but it is definitely worth more than a later steel hood 9N, which range from $500 to $2500 depending on condition. I saw the one on Ebay and was suprised it brought that much, as it needs a lot of work and was missing some original parts. Right people at the right time I guess, but as my dad says, "There has to be a buyer", and evidently he found a couple. Being a Ford guy, I'd still like to own one though.

I'll throw my name in the hat too if you decide to sell the tractor. Just reply to this message by email.
