Here's a photo of a odd colored wild hen that showed up at my place last fall with 4 poults. She was trying showing off for the wild toms that hang around my house. they all like the corn I toss them

You actually feed the stupid things?

They're becoming a complete nuisance here. Yesterday I looked out the back window of my shop and there must have been at least 40 or 50 in the corral.

When you figure the twice a year open season only includes toms here, and each hen hatches probably 8 or 10 every spring, it isn't exactly rocket science to see the population explosion.

I grew up in an area with very few deer or turkeys. I like to watch wild animals in their habitat and yes I feed these every day then sit on my porch and watch the miracle of Gods Creations, its no wonder they are so beautiful. The one thing that amazes me is the untold truth of the many beautiful colors that show up as the sun reflects off their feathers. Last but not least they are entertaining to watch far better than anything on TV.

Hey Goose. MY DOG LOVES TURKEY> SO DOES MY DAUGHTERS CAT .How's your supply of shot shells???Shoot em for trespassing, eat the evidence. That way If some one turns you in, It becomes no HIT, NO FOWL. Just a thought . Regards LOU. PS. HAPPY HUNTING.

A buddy of mine got two with one shot on my place during the spring season a couple of years ago.

He was aimed in at the head of a big tom with his 12 guage, and just as he fired another tom stuck its head up right behind the first.

Nothing special about the photo except they sure are starting early this year. I I can attach the photo this is turkey near the front porch.

Jim, I've not seen a wild turkey that color before. Is that another one in the picture, on the other side if the fence? I know we have "bearded hens". I guess a little mixed in the harmones.....??? We had white meat turkeys once and at times had wild turkeys come through. I often wondered if they would mix......
