Toro Zero Turn mower

I'm finally trading in the old mower and looking at upgrading to a zero turn mower. I have come across a Z Master Z557 series with a 60 inch deck with 210 hours. Haven't really found any reviews on this particular model. I was wondering if any of you guys on here have had any experience with Toro mowers. any input would be much appreciated

Our University Grounds crew has Zero Turn Toro mowers. I do not know the model #s but they are keepers as far as I can see. They rarely have issues, and keep the turf on our campus looking very nice (and are driven by individuals challenged with the idea of slow). Jim

early model did NOT have enough power. I have one. And unless you mow every week, it will not work well.

Later models had more hp.

HUSTLER SUPER Z is the way to go
not cheap
however will mow at 15 mph if you want
get the cushion forks and special seat
good luck

Like a lot of things, there are good models and junk models. For a number of years Zero turn were all heavy comercial grade mowers because they were all used for comercial operations. Now that they have become popular, everybody is making a cheap line. Look at the deck if it has a nice curved stamped semetrical deck, it's a cheapy. If the deck is boxy and welded seams, it's usually comercial quality.

What the others said, some Toro's were great, others not so much. Get a Hustler, you'll never look back. We run 5 at work with minimal issues. It will mow clean as fast as yo dare to ride it.

Hustler makes good mowers, but nothing cuts as good as a Toro. I would have one Toro before I'd have two of anything else.

Toro and ExMark are the same unit, the only thing that seperates them is the deck design.

They are no better, or worse than the rest of them. They are all pretty much the same, and just about every brand out there is just a re-badged.or different color.

Everything we run is Toro and has been for 25 years so I'm a little biased. We run 11 Toro Z's of varying years and have very minor amounts of problems if any. It seems the older, original ones were very bulletproof and I still have the first one we bought with more than 3000 hours. If this is for homeowner use, it will last you a longggggg time. My favorite I have is a Diesel with a 72" deck, it is a horse. We have 3 I think of the same model you're talking about, with between 800 and 1200 hours. One spit a hydraulic pump early, but was under warranty. That doesn't usually happen though. Good machines.

I work at a university too, our grounds crews use quite a few zero turns for the small stuff, and they are all Ex-Mark. For larger stuff they have those big jacobsen golf course units.

I have a Hustler Z and it has been bery good, does lots of tuff mowing and just keeps on going. 25 HP Kawasaki. Tom
