I wasn't going to mess with this and just paint it yellow but it's to temping for me to not do it right. We bought this rake about ten or so years ago out of the weeds and put some tires on it and started using it. Yesterday I took it apart and repacked the bearings which I would say has never been done. Then I went over it with a wire wheel on a hand drill just to get some of the crap off of and and put some primer on it but I'm not sure what color it needs to be. I took the Farmhand sticker off and it's like vibrant orange under it but then a 2 or 3 of the arms and the 5 wheels are yellow. Does anybody know what color this thing needs to be? It's a Farmhand 5 wheel rake thats probly a 50s or 60s model. I want to throw a little color on it so when people drive by it looks like we know what we're doin lol. Thanks for any help

Hey, it's your rake, you can have any color you want! Think Farmhand was red, but don't take that to the bank.

what ever paint you have on hand, the idea is to preserve it to do a job. I would not give a toss whether anybody thought I knew what I was doing. as long as I did....What colour Angus??

Alright thanks guys. It is a good point for whatever color I want lol. I also was thinkin about he NH red and yellow cuz our other bailing equipment is New Holland so that works out good.

Go over on the CASE forum. Moline Guy posted several pics. from Farmhand Lit. which will show you the real colors. Farmhand also color corodonated their machinery.

Tyler, I've got the mate to your rake, except yours is set up for a cylinder - mine has the crank. Pretty good old rake - never throws any teeth. They originally had a masonite disk in each rake wheel. The masonite deteriorates if parked in the fence row (like mine). They had red frame and yellow wheels in their youth.

When we bought it it had the remnants of the center sections so we bought some new ones and put on then those rotted away to. It still works great though. Shows how good this old equipment was made.
