I was really just asking about fancy paint jobs...

Hi, I saw a beautiful tractor a couple of hours from me. It had a great colour scheme in my opinion. But I don't think it was an original colour combination. The original post is over on the Ford forum. I was really just asking about colour schemes, but somehow the thread got sidetracked into the pedigree of the tractor in the photo. I wanted to know about fancy paint jobs...

Have any of you seen other non-original colour schemes that really look good? I'd be very interested in seeing them!

Thanks,

Troy

Interesting details about what that tractor is put together with. I bet there's a long story that goes with it. No telling how much time has been invested in that tractor until this moment. As much as the paint itself, I'm impressed with the level of detailing on that thing!

You do up anything that fancy and you're gonne get attention. That draws comments. No two people have ever had the same exact idea of what is an acceptably restored tractor.

And they weren't painted that slick when they were new. My personal thoughts are, a well restored tractor should have the same grade of finish as it had originally if at all possible. I see some with paint that belongs on a street rod. I'm impressed with that persons painting skills, but overkill is overkill.

i saw a early Ford 2000 ahile back that was Ford red on the running gear and wheel centers and that dark charcoal gray metallic Massey had on everything else...lettering was done in same red...it looked real nice.
i say its your wallet...paint it however ya want...i love watchin the correct police run screaming off into the field pulling out handfulls of hair hehehehehehe

A few years ago - I think it was on this site, I saw a Farmall Cub painted green and yellow. The decals said John Deere Kub. Does that count?
I wish I had saved that photo.

Heres a few I have gotten off of this site.

Yeah, my grandpa bought a SMTA right afyer he got out of the army and his brother bought a SM after high school and when the 460 and 560s came out they liked the looks of them so they went down to the local paint shop and had a white stripe painted down the side like the 560s did. He had that tractor till 1993 when he and his brother got in a fist fight and split up and sold everything. Dad wanted it, it sold for $1300 but that might as well been 13 million for dad being a newly wed man and tring to gat a family going so oh well. BUT WE WILL HAVE THAT ONE OR ONE LIKE IT SOMEDAY!!!
