For the last month ive been lusting after a 2090 Case, but today I was subsoiling/ripping a rented farm with my little 70hp 4wd Kubota, and my single shank ripper. I found some wet spots, and would have been screwed without that 4wd handle. Im starting to second guess my self about whether or not ill be gaining that much getting the Case. Will the 40 more hp and double the weight be that much more of a tractor? Do duals make that big of a traction difference or mostly reduced compaction? I cant afford to guess wrong! Any advice appreciated.

I'm not trying to bash Kubota, because I've heard lots of good. I think the Case would stand up to the work load much better. Just don't think the utility Kubota will stand up to long hours doing things like ripping.

I went from a 2wd 7700 Ford to a 2wd TW20 Ford with duals, from 80 hp to 140 or so hp.

Much nicer with the duals & heavier tractor & more weight, I have miserable clay soils with a high water table so I know all about getting stuck. The duals are nice.

That Case combo would be twice the tractor. Yes, put the duals on, for both traction and flotation. If the Case has differential lock, so much the better. If the duals are worn out old tires, you won"t gain much traction. Need some good cleats for traction. Years ago we used the old takeoffs, but learned it takes good rubber to put power to the ground.

Yes the duals help a great deal to reduce compaction. And, yes, with good tread help traction. But you have to be careful. They will float you out farther in the wet spots, and then when you are stuck, well you are really stuck!
