Cat making trucks now!?!?!?!

Just got off the Cat website checking for jobs and on the home page a ad for the new 660 Cat trucks. I checked it out and they show a Hi way dump truck mixer and refuse truck!! I thought they quit making engines for hi way use cause of the emissions standards? Can any Cat reps on here fill us in about this new deal? If you would like to check it out go to fabickcat website.

Between the 2009 Navastars we have and the 3126 Cat I had, they are both junk.

From what I herd through the grapevine. Cat just released a over the road truck engine for LOCAL haul only, it was at a show in vegas ??? ( i think thats right ) I believe its a CAT engine using the same type emissions as deere ( so i hear through the grapevine)

I worked in the truck shop at our local CAT dealer until recently and provided nothing has changed since then this is what it is. The truck was to be built by International, it will have a CAT engine (same as the Maxxforce diesels in the Internationals, which is Caterpillar iron with someone else's fuel and emissions systems bolted to it). CAT got out of the on-highway engine game because of falling sales (50% market share to less than %10) because of OEM's sourceing their own engines. That combined with the cost of certifying the new emissions engines pushed them out of the game. Now they're coming back with their own vocational trucks. Sam

Andy is right that cat stopped making over the road engines in 2010. They couldn,t meet the new epa stanards. Construction & farm equipment fall in a different emission standards. I found that they were dropping otr engines back in 2009. My wifes cousins husband has been a Cat engineer for 30 some years.
In 2009 he said Volvo,Mercedes-Benz,& Cummins had engines to meet the new epa emission standards.
