Parts (hyd cylinder) for Sherman 54B Power Digger?

I've got a Sherman 54B900 Power Digger I picked up last spring. It needs some TLC, but my main pain points are the swing and stabilizer cylinders. The swing cyl's are pretty rusty, and leak like a sieve, mostly due to the pitting surface rust on piston. I looked around but didn't find any place I could buy them without looking up specs on cylinders designed for other purposes.

So the question is... what do you think my best bet is on getting these refreshed? Do shops even rechrome cylinders any more?

Further, I'm missing one of the stabilizer cylinder assemblies. Anyone know of a place that can duplicate an assembly if given the matching cylinder? or am I better off just ditching them and finding a replacement set?

TIA,
Jesse

To bad your not closer to me. I have bits and pieces of a Sherman back hoe as I would call it but I am in Missouri. The one I have came off an 8N ford

Interesting - my sister in law lives down there. Close to Oakland Park I think. Works at the GM plant.
Anyhow - what do you have for hyd parts?
I also have not tested out the dipper stick, as I welded it up last summer after being snapped in two.

I have an 8N ford I'm trying to put it onto.

Not sure what all I have any more. Been 2 or 3 years since I took what was left off the 1951 8N it was on. Some one had stolen a bunch of the parts off it before I got the machine so that is why it was taken off. I'm in the Lake of the Ozarks area

I'd like to find out more. Could you ping me at jesseDOTdavisATyahooDOTcom (with usual modifications)?
I couldn't bear to ask some one to part out a functional machine, but if it's only partly there...
I might be interested in buying some parts from you.
Stuff that I'm interested in:
Stabilizer cylinder(s)
swing cylinder(s) if in better shape than mine
Dipper stick (non-hyd part bucket hooks to)
Thanks,
Jesse

My e-mail is always open on here and if you on classic al you have to do is click on my name or click on the place where it says send E-Mail. I know I have some of that stuff but the arm that the bucket was mounted on was gone but the rest of it was still there including the PTO pump

Hate resurrecting an old thread but this is the same exact thing that I am facing.
Just picked up a Sherman 54B360 over the weekend. The back hoe is in great condition other than the swing cylinder Rods being pitted causing leakage and the pump mount housing has the two lower mounting ears snapped off. No welds anywhere on the main arms. Only weld I see is to the seat mount which seems like it was extended some. Ironically all of the other cylinder rods are perfect looking.

Were the swing cylinders originally chromed? Odd that they pitted so badly.I can post pictures later when I get home.

Jesse in WI, what did you end up doing with the swing cylinders? Did you re-chrome the rods? I think mine may be beyond chroming.

Old, if you still have the digger laying around I would luv to know if you have the pump mount housing still.

Thanks

Just added the picts.

Hi, I just saw an old post about your Sherman 54B360 backhoe. Would you happen to have any pictures of the entire backhoe attachment? I'm trying to identify a few model numbers.

Thanks,

Dave
