Clamp on Duals

I am looking for duals for my 6610. It has spin out rims, so I am assuming that clamp on duals are the only option. Are they generic across brands, or do I need one specifically for the Ford. I am new to these, so help is appreciated.

I just replied to your post on the Ford forum. There are several brands of clamp on duals; any will work with yuor tractor. If you search the archives, there are posts with pics of my tractors, both spin-out and manual adjust, with clamp-on duals.

what size tire do you have. i have 2 18.4x34 poweradjust rims but im not sure how you would clamp those on. ive got dome hooks and clamps to if you need those.

Wife"s MF180 has clamp-on duals on right now - clamped against spin outs.... Works fine. Although I"m careful not to get too wreckless in handling the tractor. Duals make it a whole different animal. Traction issues change, footing changes, a whole different learing curve. And maybe I really don"t want to find out what it might take to snap an axle. I would be checking craig"s lists, auction bills, networking wit other farmers. May be surplus rims available right locally.

I am used to driving with the duals on the 4020 JD, but it has extended axles. We need another tractor with duals on it due to wet conditions.

The only rule of thumb I heard was that it's not wise to use clamp-ons when the main inner wheel is stamped steel. The theory is, and I saw this once, that the extra stress can crack the center out of a stamped wheel. That could kinda unplug your coffee pot if it happened in the middle of a field a mile from home.

I ran clamp-ons on an 856 Farmall with cast main wheels for a coupla years with no problem. Ran into a good deal on a pair of axle mounts so I switched.

try to find some Petersens or M&W's with a rail all the way around, they are much easier to mount, I have some eyes that go on the spinout rails that I will never use, they come off an 830 Case, the only tractor that band duals are not reccomended for is an IH

Two sets of power adjust rims (Ford's, anyway) can
be used on a single center to give you duals.
HOWEVER - the inner rims must be adjusted all the
way in (with the clamps on the inside of the
center), and the second set is attached to the
center with another set of clamps bolted to the
outer side of the center. I've never seen any set up
like that (maybe because of the price of P/A rims?),
but that method is listed in the owner's manual.
