Soon I’m hoping to be putting back together my Farmall 400 and have heard diffidence of opinions of what to use for the transmission lube. I have always be told to use 80-90w gear lube and been happy with it because there is no way to get rid of the heat and that it wouldn’t break down. I would think that this is important since there are ball bearing on the axle and not roller. With the GL-5 spec it too can hold a lot of moisture before it breaks down. But with the TA I’m hearing that I should use HY-Tran. Can anyone shed some light on this.
