The reason the allen bolts broke is because most of them are a grade 8 or harder which makes them brittle under heat. Another thing to remember is that stronger is not always better. A grade 5 bolt will stretch where a grade 8 will break. Another reason for useing studs is that they only have a certain length of threads on them so you don't screw them in to far and crack a head. .01 cents worth Tom
