Bill, If your 6v system works than I would leave it alone. But changing to 12v will kill alot of birds with one stone. 12v will turn faster in cold weather and allow you to jump or be jumped by other 12v vehicles. If your system is not working the change over will give you a working system and rewire your old tractor at the same time. The parts are reliable and easily found at the local auto store. As far as the fan belt the fan should be mounted in a fork that the fan will slide up and down in when you lossen the bolt. Go to www.ytmag.com/articles/artint195.htm for the 12v swap
