if you have a good fully charged battery you should be able to go several days with out the generator working . mine is disconnected until i rewire it for a alternator. i just put it on the charger when it gets low .i suspect you may also have a bad battery. working on a 6 volt system is no different than a 12 volt system just different voltage .the post below gives you good information......bill b va
