John The hand clutch will not make the liftall live. My recently purchased M has the hand clutch but also a M & W power steering unit that makes the liftall live. This unit is just mounted ahead of the steering column. The live hydrualics come from another part of the steering that is placed ahead or in front of the distributor. The plumbing goes something like this--I have often wondered if it was correct! The high pressure is generated at the pump at the distributor, to the unit on the steering column, to the liftall and returning to the distributor. It works great! As for the value of the M at auction, bad tires, bad paint, looks leftout in the rain more than ever having a roofover its head-$500 max. An average M around my parts -$1500 max. Also consider what use you will give it. I mow 15 ac.of rotation pastures plus a spreader. I would not be without the power steering. With the dead furrows around here, we call M's w/o ps arm breakers. Wish you well, and much enjoyment. Maybe post what it went for? Steve in PA
