I agree, slight oil burning is nothing to worry about. As long as you can afford to replace the fouled plugs, keep using it. Tell the neighbors you are fogging for mosquitoes. At the next oil change, pull the pan and remove the oil pump cover. It can be lapped on a piece of glass using valve grinding compound. If it is grooved or worn, a little clean up will help oil pressure. You don't have to clean it all the way up to get results. I have a C in poor shape that I brush hog with. Same engine as the A. It smokes like a fish when first started. Requires new plugs every 20 hours or so. I run it 200 hours or more per year. Oil pressure drops to near 0 on the gauge when it warms up. It has been this way for several years and has not developed additional problems from the low oil pressure. I did change to 20w50 a few years ago. I'm sure it needs the oil pump treatment as well. While you have the pan off, you'll notice the crancase is not all that dirty. I'd change to 20w50 detergent oil even without removing the pan. I farm with Farmalls (mainly M's and H's)and have used detergent oil exclusively for over 20 years. Never pre-treated one and never had a problem. I own 28 and help neighbors with 10 or more additional ones. I say this to say I am not guessing with my advice, it comes from experience. I just don't buy in on the fear of detergent oil. It is also a superior oil to non-detergent oil you buy, so you get extra protection.

This would have made me to be about16 years old and I drove the tractor for nothing and would have paid to drive it if I had had any money which I didn't, but neit
