James - If that regulator is more than a year or two old I'd recommend simply replacing it with a new one. Regulators are kinda fussy to set right even when you understand how they work and know what you're doing. And get an adjustment off just a little and you'll wind up with a dead or overcharged battery, or possibly a burned up generator. (Don't ask how I know...) A new regulator will cost less than $40 - it's money well spent as far as I'm concerned
