Cub Loosing Power mowing

I have a Cub Low boy with a 5ft woods belly mower. I just put on new blades and had the tractor tuned up ( new Carb, oil change, replace hyd seals). I mowed the lawn yesterday and when I would hit a thick or tall patch of grass the mower blades would almost stop spinning and the tractor would loose power to the point that it would almost stall. If anyone has suggestions what might be happeing please let me know. Thanks in advance. Peter
