Carl, All good posts except the "1/2 inch of oil one". That's not enough oil. Just fill both inner and outer rings with the same oil you're using in the crankcase up the the level of the two holes you have in the inner ring. The reason for the two holes is to allow the oil to level out between the two compartments in the cup. Make sure the stack of the air cleaner is clean and free of obstructions. As far as sucking oil into your carb, check for a stuck valve. Remove the valve cover and look at all the rocker arms with tractor at idle. All should be moving about the same distance. Also check the clearances and set them at .014" with engine at running temp.//FB
