Karl, I had a friend with "bad threads" and it cost him a block, 2 sleaves 1 piston and and 4 valves. clean the threads with a tap, borrow one if you can as they are quite pricy, they are tapered so you may have to go bigger.(thread deeper) if so,have the man at the hardware cut the thread a "little bigger" the dies are adjustable so as to get a good fit. If all else fails pull the manifold(not a hard job)and have it fit at pipeshop or replace it. ( they are a lot cheaper than a motor/repair
