I wonder what kind of tractor. In an old farmall the tank is too far back for a spill to touch the hot engine. A while back a guy was checking the fuel level of a power cart at night. He used his lighter and looked into the pour spout. The vapors flashed and took off his eyebrows and the front of his hair. Hurt his skin too. He was found sufficiently stupid to not only risk himself, but a 200+ million dollar aircraft. (The cart was right under the wing). He was busted down a rank and not allowed near the aircraft anymore. That has nothing to do with the original subject, but it made me remember it.
