Farm All Cub cuts out when hot / fuel line vacuum?

After running for 15 minutes or so my '57 cub sputters and dies. No fuel at carb, but when I disconnect line at filter and then reconnect flow returns. Filter is new, carburetor. recently serviced, but still a bit iffy as to the gasket seal (metal was warped, screws had stripped the housing). Fuel line drops from the sediment bowl and lays atop the transmission housing just where the engine connects to the main body of the tractor. It seems pretty hot in this area - could that be causing problems in the fuel line? Thanks for any thoughts you may have.
