Farmall M serial number

I'm having trouble finding the serial number of my "M". Most of the cast stamping list it as a '48 model. My uncle purchased it new in '48. I cannot find the builder's plate or the engine serial number. Would these be the same number? Where is the builder's plate supposed to be located? Where is the engine serial number? Is there a data base which lists the original owners? Also since this has '48 year stampings, doesn't this get the McCormick-Deering stickers? Thank you for your help!
