just like MR OAKES said check the amps on your battery there is no reason for 8v just what you need is to start screwing with the voltage reg whe now you probably need some good 1ga cables and the starter brushes replaced just remember it started when it was new and it will start now if you have things in shape might even need some sparkplugs do you put a 30% larger battery in your car when it doesent start
