i'm finalizing my plans to do the 12v conversion once it gets warm out. think i got the procedure down pat. As long as the battery box is shot (the sides are rusted trhough all the way around) i was wondering about moving the battery to the tool tray area by the belt pulley, and then putting a different kind of seat up there. this would accomplish 2 things: 1) shorter run for battery cables=better current delivery to starter and avoid unseen shorts from jacket abrasions inside the cowl and cover. 2) allows for more options for a more comfortable seat (and ergonomically healthier) and potentially more platform space. the question then is what do i look for for a seat and suspension system? i realize the ~$80 for a new battery box is probably cheaper though, but then it will eventually rust and become a safety hazard too. looks like I enjoy brainstorming and experimenting :)
