Hi Dave, Top plate to my transmission was 1*8*U, which I take to be Jan 8, 1951. The front gas tank pedistal was 1*(something)*U. Again, 1951. The belt pulley drive housing was 12*11*T, which I take to be Dec 11, 1950. I'm thinking 1951 is where I am. The really interesting thing is the the casting date on the engine block was 1*9*U, and later on, after machining the block, they stamped it FBKM238979. Curious. Anyway, thanks for the information. Funny discussion I had the other day. Here in Colorado, I can get license plates for my M. They're farm tractor plates. I'm sure I can get road insurance from my car-insurance place pretty cheap. I work on an Air Force base, and with registration and insurance, I can get a base parking pass. Can you imagine the security police dealing with a parking pass for a Farmall M? Hee Hee. Can you imagine the guys on patrol, seeing a tractor in the parking lot and calling it in? Bua-ha-ha-ha. OK, I'm a warped individual.
