I can't give you any specifics but would suggest getting a parts manual and trying to identify what fell out. I pulled a drain plug out of a JD 4020 once and no oil came out. I stuck my finger in the hole and pushed a 1" piece of steel out of the way and oil gushed out. What a time I had with that one. It ended up being part of the parking pawl on the trans. Good luck.
