I have a 544 gas tractor that i can't get going. If I let it alone for a while and come back and try to start it, it will start but then shut off after just a split second. And it won't even try to start until you leave it alone for a while. Because of this and the fact that I've put new points, distributor cap, and plugs in the darn thing I suspect trouble with the gas. I also put a new sediment bowl and screen on it. It has a Marvel Schebler carb. Does anybody else agree with me that the fuel system is where my trouble is and what should I do next. Or am I heading in the wrong direction? Any help will be appreciated. I need this one to mow hay for me, the sooner, the better!
