I hadn't checked the fuel level before I started so I decided to stop across the fence from my garage and pop the cap. Big mistake! Fuel shot out of the tank like a fountain, it must have expelled 1-2 gals before the pressure was gone. I shut off ignition and ran for a fire extinguisher and a garden hose. No fire and I carefully washed everything down for a long time before restarting. I had assumed the new style 2" high gas cap that came on the tractor was one of the good ones - NOT! I threw it as far into the wheat feild as I could and dug out one of the replacement caps I had been saving, for what?
