Distillate fuel was a type of fuel that was available cheap but it is no longer available as far as I know. The war time tractors used it because gasoline was just about nonexistant. I belive distillate was a bye product of the refining of gas or diesel fuel. IH made distillate, kerosine, diesel and gasoline tractors all of which started on gasoline and then switched over to the other type of fuel once the engines were sufficiently warmed up. I think that most of the IH tractors were either gas or diesel by the early '50s. Most of the distillate tractors run on gasoline now but I've heard of a few that can still run on kerosine
