To install the battery ignition unit, first crank the engine until # 1 piston is coming up on compression stroke, then continue cranking until the ignition timing mark(crankshsaaft pulley notch) and pointer is in register. Turn the distributor drive shaft until rotor arm is in the # 1 firing position and mount the ignition unit on the engine, making certain that lugs on ignition unit engage slots in the drive coupling. The distributor turns clockwise, # 1 plug is the closest one to the radiator and the firing order is 1-3-4-2. The distibutor cap tower that in line with the rotor is on # 1 and should have the secondary wire going to the # 1 plug, The next tower would have the seconday wire going to the # 3 plug, then 4, and then 2. Point gap is 0.020.
