Well, I did a little digging around my literature collection and am able to answer some of my own questions. I have a 1958 IH Farmer's Catalogue which amounts to a brochure of IH's full line for 1958. It is Canadian and devotes a full page to descibing the 350 Wheatland Special. It says that the 350 Wheatland Special is: "Specially designed and built for Canada's big grain-growing farmer...". A comparitive chart of the IH tractor line shows few mechanical differences from a regular 350 except:
- 10 imperial gallon fuel tank versus 9.5
- 3.75 imperial gallon coolant capacity versus 2.75
- 11*28 rear tires versus 10*28
- 3700lb standard weight versus 3500lbs
- non-adjustable front axle, wider fenders and a wider operators platform stretching from fender to fender The pictures in the booklet indicate "Wheatland Special" emblems that reside below the 350 emblem on the hood panel. One question remaining now is, was this a Canada only version or was this available in the U.S. also?
