I doubt I would mess with doing a ring job if your pressures are that good and even. To clean the carbon out, WD-40 will get you started, but I find that some light brushing (with a brush that won't damage the liners, like a brass one or coarse nylon one) and then using carb cleaner followed by compressed air, will get most stuff out of things. Carb cleaner is designed for removing carbon from carbs and the like, so it should work just dandy fine. Best of luck!
