Steve@nd .. can you tell me more about Hy-Trans? I tried to look it up on the Case/IH web page, but could not find it. I did go to the AMSOIL web page - they have a synthetic transmission/hydraulic oil that is spec'd for "Case International - MS-1207, HYTRAN" (quotes added - I cut and pasted that from the AMSOIL page). Anyway, this oil is rated as a SAE 30 oil. Is Hy-Trans really that much thinner than the SAE 90 gear oil? Or can Hy-Trans be bought in different viscosities? Remember, gear lubes are different than motor oils... is it possible that something that "looks" to be slightly thinner can really be a 30 instead of a 90? Inquiring minds want to know. BTW, the AMSOIL looks to be an excellent lube - but try pricing about 5 gallons of it and you will re-think it very quickly! Well.. maybe in a new tractor - I would look at it. For my old M .. used for pulling and parade duty, I couldn't justify the extra cost.
