From my reading on International in general, it is my impression that they used the names McCormick, Deering and McCormick-Deering more or less interchangeably. The International name was used for industrial and domestic machines. Part of this confusion was made worse by the fact that a given town might have an International dealership AND a McCormick-Deering dealership, selling essentially the same equipment. An anti-trust suit prohibited this practice, but IH continued to use one name for overseas sales, and another for domestic. This might not be 100% accurate (I'd need to reread the book to be sure) but it describes the general idea.
