Hope you don't mind me butting in here, but I've been kicking around the same kind of question. I'm shopping for something old and red to run a 6' tiller and I was thinking something with a TA might be a cheap alternative to a hydro as far as slowing the tractor down. I've heard old TA's would "freewheel", and the tiller would end up pushing you around the field like a paddlewheel. The question is: when did IH fix this problem? What model years should I be looking for? Which years should I avoid?
